Memia founder Ben Reid is a software technology, architecture and strategy consultant based in Christchurch, New Zealand. Originally from the UK he moved with his family to NZ in 2004, working at HP Consulting as a software architect until leaving to start Memia Ltd in 2008.

Over his 17 year software career, Ben has worked in a diverse range of vertical industries and technologies, and brings a wide-angle strategic perspective to 21st-century software industry investments. He currently acts as a director, board advisor and technology consultant to a number of  New Zealand software companies.

Ben is also Chairman of Canterbury Software Inc., a non-profit organization aimed at helping the Canterbury software sector succeed at home and worldwide, and he is enthusiastic about growing world-class technology businesses from Canterbury – one of the top innovation, commercial and lifestyle regions in the world.

Examples of recent engagements
Some of the recent engagements which we have delivered include
  • Strategy / architecture consultancy, helping to deliver product strategy and vision for established international ISV in the logistics vertical. Also helped to establish agile delivery methods, technology governance processes and product management framework. (2010-present)
  • Board advisory services to long established ISV with customers in the NZ Government sector, including facilitating production of FY11 Business Plan (2010-present)
  • Produced 5-year Cloud / SaaS transition roadmap for established international ISV in the health sector (2010)
  • Operationalized and managed a startup software development team to build a new globally targeted SaaS ERP business from the ground up. (2009-2011)
  • Assisting with team recruitment and establishment of software development processes for new foreign exchange ISV startup (2010-present)
  • Delivered courses for New Zealand Trade and Enterprise on “SaaS and Cloud Roadmaps for ISVs” (2011)
